This morning year 3 enjoyed performing to parents and pupils for our harvest assembly. They sang some fabulous songs and recited their lines brilliantly. The whole school especially enjoyed hearing The Harvest Samba ! Congratulations year 3!

A Heroic Children in Need Day!
Well done to all the children and staff who helped make today's Children in Need day such a great success! The children loved dressing up in their pyjamas (as did many of the teachers!) and they had great fun dancing in the hall. Our pupils created some fantastic comics illustrating what being a hero means to them, and their selfie props looked amazing!

National Coding Week
To celebrate National Coding Week we will be running a series of lessons where your children will learn some of the basics of Coding. In addition to using the Purple Mash software 2 Code there are a selection of iPad apps that we will be exploring. Some apps we will using include Lightbot, Cargobot, Tynker, Scratch Jr, Move The Turtle and Hopscotch.
Please find below some links to help support your child as they learn about coding.
In addition to what will be happening in school, there is an independent event being held in Bettws Library on Friday 25th September. The course is called "Coding for Adults - A Beginner's Guide". Please follow the link below for details.
Happy Coding!
Congratulations!
Well done and a huge congratulations to the Malpas Church Junior Girls' football team. On Wednesday 19th November, the girls attended the Newport County football tournament held at the Velodrome. We were successful in winning the tournament, beating all challengers and then managing to seal victory in a highly contested final - winning on penalties. All players contributed and showed great teamwork throughout. Well done girls we are all extremely proud of your achievements.

Rugby Tournament
On Tuesday 26th November a team from the school rugby squad competed in a tournament at the Glebelands. Six teams took place in the tournament and Malpas Church faced stiff competition from Rougemont, Eveswell, Undy, Mount Pleasant and St Andrews. All the players tried exceptionally hard and everyone had a good experience at the first tournament of the season. We were unfortunate to lose a few games, but the team played hard and won their match against Mount Pleasant 2-1. Well done to all the boys!
